Women's Golf in Seventh After 1st Round of World Golf Invitational
ST. AUGUSTINE'S, Fla. -- The Catawba women's golf team opened the spring portion of its schedule on Sunday in the opening round of the World Golf Invitational. The two day event is being held at the 6,011-yard, par-72 Slammer & Squire Course at the World Golf Village.
The Catawba Indians stand in seventh out of 17 schools following the first 18 holes. The Lady Indians posted a 313 score which is 16 shots behind leader Saint Leo. Lynn had an even 300 score to stand second.
Madison Kennedy (Salisbury, N.C./Salisbury HS) sits in fourth place after her first-round 73. Flagler's Stephanie Tucker leads after a two-under par 70 with two golfers firing even-par 72s. Alexis Kershaw (Winston-Salem, N.C./Ledford HS) had a 78 for Catawba and is in 35th place.
The tournament will conclude with a second 18 holes on Monday.
