Four homers not enough as Baseball falls at St. Andrews 12-5

LAURINBURG, N.C. - A windy afternoon at Clark Field proved to be a home run derby through four and a half innings, but St. Andrews scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth and went on to defeat Catawba College 12-5 in non-conference baseball action on Wednesday afternoon. St. Andrews improves to 19-17, while Catawba falls to 21-17. Demetrius Jordan started the home run fest for St. Andrews with a one-out blast in the bottom of the first. Catawba's Matt Baker cracked a leadoff home run in the second inning, and a two-out, two-run homer by Spence Southard gave the Indians a 3-1 lead in the top of the third. Catawba would expand the margin to 4-2 in the top of the fourth with a solo shot by Nick Lefko, but St. Andrews would take a one-run lead in the bottom of the inning on an RBI double by Brandon Taylor and a two-run blast by Casey Clary. The Indians scored their final run of the game when Blair Reynolds smacked a two-out homer to even the score at 5-5 in the top of the fifth, but the Knights quickly ended the standoff in the bottom of the inning on a two-run double by Jason Catlin.
