Baseball falls in exhibition with Class A Kannapolis

KANNAPOLIS, NC -- Catawba College fell to the Kannapolis Intimidators 5-3 in an exhibition baseball game on Wednesday night at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium. Kannapolis is a Class A farm team of the Chicago White Sox. Catawbaís Zach Snyder (Lexington, NC) pitched well for his four innings, allowing an uneaerned run on three this with a pair of strikeouts. His lone allowed run came in the fourth inning on a two-out RBI single by Charlie Lisk. Catawba had took the lead in its half of the fourth as Matt Baker (Charlotte, NC) doubled and was then doubled home by Jeff Boyles (Pinnacle, NC). Kannapolis would take the lead in the sixth, scoring three times off Tribe reliever Matt Fairweather (Lenoir, NC). Only two of the runs were earned. Lisk and Anthony Webster had RBIís, while the initial run of the inning scored on a balk. Fairweather tossed two innings, allowing four hits with three strikeouts. The Indians closed the gap to a single run in the eighth as Nathan Walkers (Burlington, NC) scored when Spence Southardís (Greensboro, NC) fly to right was misplayed. Southard would score on a single by Andrew Daywalt (Mocksville, NC). Webster had an RBI in the eight for Kannapolis for the final outcome. Southard had a single for Catawba in the sixth as the Indians managed just four hits on the night. John Hearn (Middletown, MD) pitched a scoreless seventh for Catawba. #######
