Sledd Takes Point In Singles For Women's Tennis At Queens
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Queens claimed an 8-1 win over visiting Catawba in South Atlantic Conference women's tennis action on Thursday afternoon at Freedom Park. The Royals, ranked 28th in NCAA II, improve to 12-2 overall and 7-2 in the SAC. The Catawba Indians fall to 10-12 and 1-9.
Queens got off to a quick start, leading 3-0 after sweeping the doubles matches. Claire Hamilton, at #6, and Marta Gonzalez, at #3, wrapped up the win with straight set wins in singles. The Royals are ranked fifth in the region.
Lauren Sledd (Roanoke, Va./Cave Spring HS) won the point for Catawba. She posted an 8-3 victory at #5 singles.
Catawba concludes its season on Saturday as the Lady Indians host Brevard at 1 pm at the Johnson Tennis Center.
