Football Wraps Up Spring With Blue-White Scrimmage
SALISBURY, N.C. – Catawba football completed its spring with a Blue-White scrimmage on Saturday at Shuford Stadium. David Burgess had a good day on offense with 54 yards on eight carries, while Michael Pepper and R.J. Beaty each had a pair of sacks on defense.
The offense opened with a 75 yard drive for a score. Burgess did most of the work with 41 yards on the drive. Mike Sheehan completed a pair of passes for 10 yards and also scored the touchdown on an eight-yard run.
The defense would shine for much of the remainder of the scrimmage, holding the offense without points over the next 10 drives. The defense recorded six sacks on the day and also forced a fumble. Marquez Robbs was in on the caused fumble. In addition to Beaty and Peppers, Terry Whitehead and Dominique Walker also had sacks.
Reid Carlton helped set up a second offensive score with a 41-yard pass to Shawn Galloway. After Cary Littlejohn ran off 14 yards, Carlton took it in from four yards out.
Littlejohn picked up 46 yards on seven carries, while Eamon Smart ran for 36 yards on eight attempts. Dantereus James went for 28 yards on six carries.
Sheehan played just two series, running for 14 yards and completing both pass attempts for 10 yards. Carlton was 5-of-6 passing for 60 yards and Alex Thornton completed 4-of-5 for 38 yards.
Bruce Smith had three reception for 19 yards. Carlos Tarrats caught a pair of short passes and had one run of nine yards. Riley Weber had a 22-yard catch and Andy Hunt had a 20-yard reception.
