Tysinger Named to Capital One Academic All-District First Team


ORLANDO, Fla. -- Catawba softball pitcher Carley Tysinger (Lexington, N.C./Davidson HS) has earned a spot on the Capital One Academic All-District first team, the organization announced Thursday. Tysinger, a chemistry major with a 3.65 GPA, will advance to the Capital One Academic All-America ballot which will be announced in June.

In 2015, Tysinger was named the South Atlantic Conference Pitcher of the Year and SAC Tournament MVP after leading the Catawba Lady Indians to a conference championship for the first time in the schools history since going to fast pitch.

Tysinger goes into the Southeast Regional playoffs boasting a 1.54 ERA and a 25-9 record over 36 appearances. Adding nine shutouts to the campaign, Tysinger has struck out 307 batters to rank 6th in the nation. 

Off the field, Tysinger is a member of the Catawba honors program and the chemistry honor society Gamma Sigma Epsilon. Tysinger has also been named to the Dean's list four time and once to the Presidential Honor Roll.
