Morant Posts 10 Kills In Each of Volleyball's Losses on Saturday


CHARLOTTE, N.C -- Catawba was swept in both of its matches on Saturday at the Levine Center to conclude play at the Queens Invitational.  The Catawba Indians fall to 1-3 on the young season.  GRU Augusta moved to 3-0 with its win over the Lady Indians, while Lander upped its record to 4-0.

Erin Morant (Bealeton, Va./Liberty HS) posted 10 kills and a pair of blocks in both matches for Catawba.  Setter Kaytee Frabotta (Sterling Heights, Mich./Henry Ford II HS) nearly posted a triple-double in the loss to Lander.  The senior handed out 22 assist with nine kills and nine digs.

Frabotta tallied 29 assists with seven kills in the morning loss to GRU Augusta.  Libero Meredith Furr (Concord, N.C./Cox Mill HS) recorded 15 digs, while Rachel Stanford (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee HS).  Evan Schultz (Richmond, Va./Monacan HS) picked up 10 digs vs. Lander.

Catawba played six tight sets in the two losses.  The Lady Indians were tied 23-all in set two vs. GRU Augusta and at 20-all in the final set.  Catawba stayed within three or four points in each set during the loss to Lander.

Next up for the Lady Indians will be a road game at Pfeiffer on Tuesday at 7 pm.
