Bonilla and Joseph Score for 2-0 Shutout Over Belmont Abbey
BELMONT, NC -- The Catawba College men’s soccer team tallied a 2-0 victory Saturday evening against Belmont Abbey. With the win, the Catawba Indians improve to 1-2 on the year. Belmont Abbey falls to 1-3.
Kenny Bonilla drew first blood for the Indians with a breakaway goal in the 73rd minute. In the 84th minute, Belony Joseph would add an insurance goal for the Tribe.
Belmont Abbey led 12-10 in shot on the night, including a 12-7 advantage in corner kicks.
Catawba keeper, Christian Watts, earned his first shutout of the season with four saves. Belmont Abbey’s Luke Whelan also recorded four saves in the game.
Catawba will return to action on Wednesday as they start South Atlantic Conference play against Newberry. The match is set for 4:00 p.m.
