Lady Indians Defeat Mars Hill 3-2
SALISBURY, NC -- The Catawba College women's soccer team claimed a 3-2 victory in South Atlantic Conference action Saturday evening at Frock Field. With the win, Catawba improves to 3-2 on the season and 2-0 in conference play. Mars Hill falls to 0-6 overall and 0-2 in the SAC.
Catawba got on the board early with a Hannah Cruse goal 1:58 into the game. Mars Hill retaliated in the 27th minute when Rachel Blong scored off a Hannah Russell corner kick.
In the second half, Catawba's Emily Davis broke the 1-1 tie in the 53rd minute. Allison Baucom was given the assist, creating the header opportunity in the box.
Kristina Hoff tallied the game winner for the tribe with a goal in the 67th minute. The goal made Mars Hill's 90th minute goal by Breona Tate useless in the decision.
Catawba keeper, Angelica Pawlowski finished the day surrendering two goals but recording five quality saves in the win. Maslyn Greene was tested on the day as she gave up three goals despite saving nine.
Catawba will return to action on Wednesday as the Lady Indians host Lenoir-Rhyne at Frock Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
