Hollenhorst Drills PK for 1-0 Win Over Concord in 2OT
ATHENS, wv -- The Catawba College men's soccer team claimed a 1-0 win in the 106th minute of play over Concord University Tuesday afternoon at Anderson Field. The non-conference win lifted the Indians to 5-3 on the year while Concord falls to 3-5.
After two halves and one overtime period the score remained tied at zero. With 4:21 left on the clock in the final overtime period, Concord was called for a foul in the penalty box.
Catawba called on Phillip Hollenhorst to take on Concord keeper Logan Powell for the win. Hollenhorst drilled the ball in for the win.
Catawba finished the day with a 20-8 shot advantage including a 7-3 corner kick advantage.
Powell recorded seven saves in the loss while Catawba keeper Christian Watts tallied two of his own.
Catawba will return to play on Saturday as they travel to Brevard for South Atlantic Conference play. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
