Catawba Falls to Pfeiffer in 2-1 Bout
MISENHEIMER, NC -- The Catawba College women's soccer team fell 2-1 to Pfeiffer University in non-conference action Wednesday night at N.E. Lefko Field. With the loss the Catawba Lady Indians fall to 3-5 on the year while Pfeiffer improves to 3-5-1.
Pfeiffer's Brae Buster tallied the first marker of the match in the 41st minute off a Jennifer Batty assist. Sophie Waller set up an Emily Davis goal in the 51st minute to tie the game at one apiece. Seven minutes later in the 58th minute, the Falcons recorded the game winner when Katlyn Stevens converted a free kick past Catawba keeper Angelica Pawlowski.
Catawba led the way in shots with an 18-12 advantage. Bethany Davis started the game in goal for the Indians recording one save. Pawlowski stopped a shot of her own during her 45 minutes in net. Pfeiffer's Deidre Gilley earned the win with five stops in the match. All three keepers each allowed a goal during their time in goal.
The Lady Indians will return to action on Saturday for a South Atlantic Conference matchup at Brevard. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
