HARTSVILLE, S.C -- Visiting Catawba got 10 kills and three blocks from Erin Morant (Bealeton, Va./Liberty HS) in sweeping Coker in South Atlantic Conference volleyball action on Saturday afternoon at the DeLoach Center.  The Catawba Indians improve to 8-8 overall and 5-4 in the SAC with the 25-21, 25-19, 25-16 victory.  The Cobras fall to 3-10 and 1-8.

Morant hit at 36.8% in collecting her 10 kills.  Bri Howard (Graham, N.C./S. Alamance HS) added nine kills and five blocks, while McKenzie Garrison (Newton, N.C./Maiden HS) posted eight kills and nine digs.

Catawba used an early 9-3 run in the opening set to go up 14-9 after an ace by Meredith Furr (Concord, N.C./Cox Mill HS).  The Cobras reduced the margin to a single point twice, but an attack error by Coker and a kill from Garrison gave the Lady Indians a 20-17 edge.  Kills from Rachel Gallup (Fredericksburg, Va./Courtland HS) and Kaytee Frabotta (Sterling Heights, MI/Henry Ford II HS) pushed the lead to 22-18 and Garrison would end the set on a kill.

The Lady Indians jumped out to a 7-3 lead in set two, but Coker battled back to tie the set at 8-all.  Catawba answered with a 7-1 burst that included another ace from Furr along with two blocks and a kill from Morant.  The Cobras cut the lead to 19-18, but Gallup followed with a kill then a block for a 22-18 edge.  Gallup recorded a pair of solo blocks to close out the set.

The third set was tied at 8-8 when Catawba went on a 10-3 run to grab control.  Morant had four kills in the run, while Howard and Alex Hopper (Madison, N.C./McMichael HS) each had two kills.  Coker got within 20-15, but Catawba won five of the next six points and ended the match on a combo block from Garrison and Morant.

The Lady Indians posted 11 blocks on the afternoon and held Coker to just 2.9% hitting.  Catawba hit at 25.7% and was 50% in the final set, posting 17 kills with three errors on 28 swings.

Hopper added six kills for Catawba with Gallup notching four kills and four blocks.  Frabotta handed out 36 assists with 13 digs and two blocks.

Madison Bingle led Coker with seven kills and 13 digs.  Megan Hardy totaled five kills with three blocks.  Christen Bragg posted 25 assists.
