Catawba Downed 2-0 Against Brevard
MARS HILL, N.C. -- The Catawba College men's soccer team suffered a 2-0 loss to Brevard College in South Atlantic Conference action Sunday evening at Mars Hill's Belk Field. With the loss Catawba falls to 4-5 on the season and 2-3 in the SAC. Brevard improves to 3-5-1 overall and 3-1-1 in conference.
Brevard's first goal of the day came in the 54th minute when Andrew Gallowitch drilled a kick from the corner of the box. In the 70th minute Henrique Joaquim landed his head on a Gabriel Garcia free kick to beat Catawba keeper Christian Watts.
Catawba finished the day leading in shots with an 18-13 advantage. Heath Turner, the Brevard goalie, stopped all seven of Catawba's shots on goal. Watts recorded four saves of his own.
Catawba returns home on Wednesday for South Atlantic matchup against Queens University. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
