Men Fall 7-2 at Pfeiffer
MISENHEIMER, N.C. -- The Catawba College men's tennis team fell to Pfeiffer University 7-2 in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon at the Knapp Tennis Center. Catawba falls to 1-3 in the fall season with the defeat. The match marked the first of the year for the Pfeiffer Falcons.
In doubles action the Falcon claimed a pair of 8-5 victories at the top two flights. At #3 doubles the duo of Lucas Miller and Aaron Vanhorenbeck earned a 9-7 victory to avoid the sweep.
In singles, Pfeiffer swept the top three positions to claim the match. The next two matches split third set tie breakers. Catawba's lone singles point came at the #4 position when Michael Patch defeated Jimmy Molina 7-6, 4-6, and 10-6. Mitchell McDonald fell at the #5 position with a third set loss of 10-7. Pfeiffer would claim the final matchup.
Catawba returns to action on Wednesday as they travel to Lees McRae for a 2:00 p.m. match.
