Overtime Goal Lifts Queens over Catawba 1-0
SALISBURY, N.C. -- The Catawba College women's soccer team suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 overtime loss to Queens University in South Atlantic Conference action Wednesday evening at Frock Field. The lone goal came with a mere 30 seconds left in the first overtime period by Queens' Alana Jefferson on a line drive to the top right corner of the net. With the loss, Catawba falls to 3-7 on the season and 2-4 in the conference. The Queens Royals improve to 5-5-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the SAC.
Queens led the night in shots with a 24-6 advantage. Catawba keeper Angelica Pawlowski stopped all eight shots she faced in 90 minutes in net. Bethany Davis replaced Pawlowski in the overtime period and stopped one shot on the night. Tori Danchak recorded the shutout for Queens with three saves in net.
Catawba will look to bounce back from their five game skid when they take on Carson Newman Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
