Men's Soccer Defeated 4-2 by Anderson
ANDERSON, S.C. -- The Catawba College men's soccer team suffered a 4-2 loss to Anderson University Saturday afternoon in South Atlantic Conference Action at Trojan Stadium. With the loss, Catawba falls to 4-8 on the season and 2-6 in the conference. Anderson improves to 7-5-1 overall and 6-2 in the SAC.
Anderson jumped out to an early lead with three goals in a 10 minute span. Catawba's Bradley Dowdall recorded the first goal for the Indians in the 34th minute, after rebounding a Belony Joseph shot.
The final two goals of the match came as penalty kicks. Anderson's Lars Kaula converted first in the 64th minute, followed by Catawba's Kenny Bonilla in the 87th minute.
The play proved physical on the day, as Anderson committed 10 fouls and recieved a pair of yellow cards. Catawba committed seven of their own, including a yellow card on Jake LaFrancis.
Catawba goalie Christian Watts recorded a save, while facing 12 Anderson shots. The Trojan's keeper Devon Ashy faced 13 Catawba shots, and saved a pair.
Catawba will return to action on Wednesday as the Lady Indians travel to Wingate. Kick of is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
