Women End Season With Loss to LMU
HARROGATE, TN -- The Catawba College women's soccer concluded their season with a 1-0 loss to Lincoln Memorial University in South Atlantic Conference action Saturday afternoon at the LMU Soccer Complex. With the loss the Catawba Lady Indians fall to 4-13 on the season and 2-9 in the conference. Lincoln Memorial advances to 5-8-3 overall and 3-6-2 in the SAC to claim the #8 spot in the conference tournament.
The lone goal came in the 72nd minute when Kadie Soall drove down the middle of the field with options on both sides. Upon arrival at the top of the box, Soall flicked a quick pass to her left to Caroline Souza, who gave it right back to Soall with a back heel pass. Soall then won a brief battle for the ball and flipped it past the diving Angelica Pawlowski.
The pair of team combined for 33 shots on the night with the Railsplitters taking 17. Pawlowski finished the game with seven saves while Lincoln Memorial's keeper stopped six shots herself.
Lincoln Memorial recorded 17 fouls which Catawba committing 12. Catawba's Becky Frost was awarded a yellow card in the 72nd minute with Soall taking one for the Railsplitters in the 81st minute.
The Lady Indians did not qualify for post season play.
