Bowling becomes first SAC Men's Tennis Player of the Year from Catawba

Catawba senior Evan Bowling (Pearisburg, VA) has been named the 2003 South Atlantic Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Year. A four-time All-SAC selection (three-time first team) is the first Indian to earn the honor. Fellow senior Alex Luc (Norfolk, VA) also earned first team All-SAC honors after earned second team honors his previous three seasons. Bowling has posted a 14-5 record this season at #1 singles and is 16-6 at #1 doubles with Luc. At the recent league tournament, Bowling surpassed the career mark for doubles wins with his 58th victory. He stands third all-time with 56 singles wins. Luc went 7-12 at #2 singles this season and ranks seventh all-time with 46 wins. In doubles, his 16-6 mark with Bowling has lifted him to the #4 position with 52 career wins. The duo has helped the team to its third regional appearance, as the team will compete in the South Region Tournament this weekend in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, at Barry University.
