HARTSVILLE, S.C. -- Five Catawba College women’s basketball players posted double digit scoring totals in a 72-57 victory over Coker College in South Atlantic Conference action Wednesday night at the DeLoach Center. The only Catawba Lady Indian’s team scoring leader, Bri Johnson, was the only starter to not reach double-digit figures. Catawba improves to 9-10 on the year with the victory and now stand at 6-7 in the conference. The Cobras fall to 6-13 overall and 5-8 in the SAC.

The Indians drew first blood with a Serena Brown three point shot in the first minute of play. After a few alternating baskets, Coker took a one point lead with 7:23 left in the quarter. Catawba’s Jada Huntley drained a three pointer on the next possession to retake the lead which they never surrendered.

Catawba was led by Huntley with 15 points followed by Brown with 14. Terri Rogers recorded 12 points and a team leading eight rebounds with Emma Ucinski contributing 11 points of her own.

The Lady Indians shot 24-for-55 (43.6%) from the field, including 7-of-17 from three point range. Catawba continued their recent woes from the free throw line converting just 17-of-28 attempts. The tribe grabbed 33 rebounds in the process.

Coker’s Jazz Green led all scorers on the night with 16 points and secured the double-double with 10 rebounds. Terrika Foster helped in the post with 10 points and nine rebounds.

Despite the large loss, Coker tallied 23-of-52 (44.2%) overall and 5-for-13 from deep. The Cobras fared even worse from the charity stipe by making only six of their 15 attempts. Coker took the advantage in rebounding with 36 boards.

Catawba will return home on Saturday to host Mars Hill at 2:00 p.m.
