Baker, Snyder earn all-region Baseball honorsCatawba College’s Matt Baker (Charlotte, NC) and Zach Snyder (Lexington, NC) have been named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-South Region Baseball Team. It is the first honor for Baker, a sophomore first baseman, while Snyder, a junior pitcher, makes it for the second time. Both were second team selections in 2003 with Snyder earning first team honors in 2002. Snyder, of West Davidson High School, posted a 7-4 mark on the mound this season with a 2.91 ERA. He completed three of 15 starts and led the team with 105 innings pitched. He allowed 95 hits and 34 earned runs this season. Snyder walked 30 and struck out 93. Baker, of Central Cabarrus High School, led the team in batting average, home runs and RBI. He hit .362, collecting 68 hits in 188 at bats, while connecting for 13 home runs and driving in 50. He added 11 doubles and a pair of triples for a .649 slugging percentage. #####
