Men's Lacrosse Tallies 68 Shots in Topping Huntsville

SALISBURY, N.C. -- Catawba downed visiting Alabama-Huntsville 11-3 in men's lacrosse action on Monday afternoon at Shuford Stadium.  Cole Fanzo (Crofton, Md./S. River) led the Catawba Indians with four goals as the hosts out shot the Chargers 68-22.  Catawba improves to 3-4, while UAH falls to 1-3.

Liam Lynch (Marietta, Ga./Pope) gave Catawba a lead it never gave up with his tally just under four minutes into the contest.  He would add a second with 2:31 left in the quarter for a 2-0 edge.  Fanzo and Dalton Cook (St. Augustine, Fla./Bartram Trail) pushed the edge to 4-0 in the opener three minutes of the second quarter. 

The Chargers cut the lead in half with back-to-back goals from Mattie D'Amico and Jack Bishop to make it 4-2 with five minutes left before the break.  Catawba used a 5-0 run from the end of the first half to the middle of the third quarter to go up 9-2.  Josh Reedy (Lake Mary, Fla./Lake Mary)had two of those goals.  Fanzo closed out the scoring with two tallies in the fourth period.

Lynch and Reedy each had two goals for the Indians.   Connor Kennedy (Weddington, N.C./Weddington/Tampa) had a goal with three assists.   Connor Eakes (Broomfield, Colo./Broomfield) won 15 of 18 face-offs and grabbed a dozen ground balls, while Jack Williams (Raleigh, N.C./Broughton) caused four turnovers on defense.

Michl McNeil made 13 saves in goal for UAH over 35 minutes.  D'Amico added four ground balls to go with his goal.  Preston Snyder had five ground balls.

Catawba returns to league action on Saturday as the Indians host Tusculum at 7 pm.
