Tysinger Picks Up SAC AstroTurf Pitcher of the Week Honors
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) -- Carson-Newman’s Elayna Siebert was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Softball Player of the Week, while Carley Tysinger (Lexington, N.C./C. Davidson) from Catawba was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played March 14-20. It was announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Tysinger, a senior, picked up a pair of wins over Brevard last week, including a no-hitter against the Tornados on March 19. In the first game of the series, Tysinger struck out 15 hitters in a seven inning no-hitter as the Catawba Indians picked up a 3-0 win. She followed that effort with 11 strikeouts in a complete game win in the second game of the series. She gave up just one earned run in her outings and scattered six hits. The honor is her third Pitcher of the Week nod this season.
Siebert, a senior from Knoxville, Tenn., notched seven hits and a .538 average at the plate to lead the Eagles to a 3-1 record last week, including a series sweep against Queens on March 18. She recorded three multiple hit games to go along with four RBI, a double and a home run in the four-game span. Siebert slugged .846 on the week and posted an on-base percentage of .600. The award is her first Player of the Week plaudit this season.
