Davis Equals Own Mark Of 17 Saves In Loss To #17 Mount Olive
SALISBURY, N.C. -- Mount Olive, ranked 17th in NCAA II, picked up a 17-5 win over host Catawba in women's lacrosse action on Monday afternoon at Shuford Stadium. The Trojans improve to 9-3, while the Catawba Indians fall to 5-6.
The Trojans finished off the first half by scoring the last six goals to go up 9-3 at the break. Just 30 seconds after Shortt tied the game, Riann Daziel put the Trojans up to stay with 14:22 to go before the half.
Daziel had three of her four goals in the opening half. Saffron Snethen joined Daziel with four goals, while Claire Wigler totaled three goals with a pair of assists.
Catawba got three goals from Shortt. Meredith Jones (Barnesville, Md./St. Johns Catholic) and Kirstyn Kruse (Sagamore Beach, Mass./Williston Northampton Prep) each added a goal and two helpers. Bethany Davis (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) equaled her own school mark as she posted 17 saves over 54 minutes in goal.
