Five set to join Catawba Swim program

Catawba College swim coach, Betsy Graham, has announced five signings for the 2003-04 season. Joining the squad for the upcoming season are Margeaux Doiron, of Gibson, Louisiana, Katie Fair, of Valdez, Alaska, Jana Horton, of Cumming, Georgia, Jaimee Park, of Norcross, Georgia, and Lauren Smith, of Seekonk, Massachusetts.Doiron was an All-State performer at Vanderbilt High School. She was also named all-district and all-metro. Doiron specialized in butterfly events, helping set a relay record. Fair was a three-time Alaska Western Zone All-Star at Valdez High School. She was a two-time state champion in the 100 breaststroke and was a US Junior National qualifier. Fair set school records in the 100 fly and 100 breaststroke along with the 50 and 100 free. Horton swam at Heritage Academy, where she graduated with honors. She will help Catawba in the backstroke and distance freestyle events. Park was a Georgia All-Star at Norcross High School. She was a member of the state 400 free relay champions and was runner-up with the 200 free relay team in 2000. Park helped set a school record in both swims. Smith helped Seekonk High School to a conference and sectional championship and a third place finish at the state championships. She earned all-star honors and helped set a school record in the 400 free relay. #######
