Women's Soccer has seven-game win streak come to endSALISBURY, NC -- Belmont Abbey, ranked 15th in NCAA II, defeated host Catawba 3-0 in women's soccer action on Tuesday night at Frock Field. The Crusaders, ranked #1 in the Southeast Region, improve to 11-2, while Catawba, rated sixth in the region, falls to 7-3-1. The loss ended a seven game win streak for Catawba, who posted six straight shutouts.Catawba nearly broke the ice 15 minutes into the match. Jamie Fink (Woodbridge, VA) tracked down a bad back pass, but was denied by a Crusader defender on two attempts. Belmont Abbey was able to take the lead in the 31st minute as Natalie Monfils (Portland, OR) drove a shot that deflected off the post into the goal. It ended a streak of 602 minutes by Catawba without allowing a goal. Just four minutes before the half, the Crusaders would strike again. Michele Sander (San Diego, CA) ripped a blast from the top of the box for a 2-0 lead.
