Swimming Names Captains for 2016-17

SALISBURY, N.C. -- Catawba College Swim Coach, Michael Sever, has announced the team captains for the 2016-17 season.  Being named captains were Amy Cujos for the women along with Arnold Blohme and Dominik Brus, who will serve as co-captains for the men’s squad.
“Each captain brings something unique and positive to the mix,” stated Sever.  “We have a very talented group of new and returning student-athletes, who have already become a strong family.  I am confident our new captains will only add to the positive momentum and success of our team.”

Cujos, a senior from Mocksville, N.C., set the school 50 free record last season with a swim of 24.22 seconds and holds the top 10 times in school history in the event.  She also has several top 15 times in the 100 free and was a member of relay record swims in the 200 and 400 free and the 200 and 400 medley.

Brus, a senior from Krakow, Poland, swam to a school record in the 200 back last season with a time of 1:48.99.  He has nine of the top 10 times in the event.  He has posted the 13th best time in the 100 back and swam on the record-setting 800 free relay team.  Blohme is a junior from Daphne, Ala.

Catawba is set to open the swim season on October 22nd in a meet against East Carolina and Campbell in Greenville, N.C.
