Women's Soccer Rides Early Goals From Frost To Sixth-Straight Win

SALISBURY, N.C. -- Catawba rode a pair of early goals from Becky Frost (Crofton, Md./Arundel) to its sixth-straight win with a 2-0 victory over visiting Brevard in South Atlantic Conference women’s soccer action on Saturday at the Frock Soccer Complex.  The Catawba Indians improve to 6-1-1 overall and 5-0 in the SAC, while the Tornados fall to 3-6 and 0-5.

Frost’s first goal came just five minutes into the match.  Bailey Howell (Mooresville, N.C./Lake Norman) played a ball down the left side to Anna Sidders (Matthews, N.C./Union Academy), who sent a cross near the end line to the near post.  Frost was able to head home the goal inside the left post.

Just a minute and a half later, Catawba would double its lead.  Debbie Killian’s (Winston-Salem, N.C./E. Forsyth) corner kick was redirected by Peyton Pruitt (Davidson, N.C./Pine Lake Prep) towards the center of the goal.  Frost was able to back heel the ball into the net from five yards out in the center of the goal.

Catawba kept Brevard off the scoreboard the rest of the way as Liz Nail (King, N.C./W. Stokes.) make four saves in earning her third shutout.  All six of Brevard’s shots came after halftime, including one from Ashley Hughes that hit the post in the 52nd minute.

The Lady Indians produced 25 shots and also was denied once by a crossbar.  Laurel Neuzil recorded a dozen saves.

Catawba travels to Queens on Wednesday for a SAC match at 7:30 pm.
