Men's Golf Finishes Eighth at Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Catawba finished in eighth place at the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate Men’s Golf Tournament which concluded on Tuesday at the par-72, 7,020-yard Ocean Ridge Golf Course. The Catawba Indians had rounds of 296 and 297 to post a 593 total. The Duke ‘B’ team ran away with the title as their 556 score was 27 shots better than runner-up Lincoln Memorial.
Trey Burton (Hickory, N.C./Newton-Conover) notched a ninth place finish individually for Catawba. He followed an opening 74 with a two-under 70 on Tuesday. His total of 144 was six shots behind a pair of Duke golfers, Alexander Matlari and Shrish Dwivedi, who finished at 138. Jordan Taylor (Troy, N.C./W. Montgomery/Campbell) was 13th after shooting 145 for the two rounds.
The men will play next week at the State Farm Invitational at the Woodlake Country Club in Harrogate, Tenn.
