HARTSVILLE, S.C. -- Catawba swept host Coker in South Atlantic Conference volleyball action on Tuesday night at the DeLoach Center.  The Catawba Indians won by the scores of 25-22, 25-14 and 25-23, improving to 10-10 overall and 8-7 in the SAC.  The Cobras fall to 11-12 and 3-12.

Bri Howard (Graham, N.C./S. Catawba got out quickly in the opening set.  Kills from Howard, Hoffman and Alex Hopper (Madison, N.C./McMichael) helped to an early 5-1 lead.  Back-to-back Howard kills had Catawba up 14-6 and another stretch the lead to 18-8.

Down 20-11, Coker made a huge push to get back into the set and a pair of kills from Christen Bragg cut the margin to 23-20 and after a Catawba hitting error it was 24-22.  The Lady Indians survived after a Coker hitting error to take the set.

Catawba pulled away midway through set two to take command of the match.  Howard had three kills and a block in a 5-0 run that gave the Lady Indians a 21-13 lead.  After a Coker point, Catawba ran off the next four points to end the set after kills from Howard and Hoffman.

Set three was the tightest of the night with nine ties and five lead changes.  Coker led 14-11 when Catawba reeled off four points to go on top.  The Lady Indians would lead 19-16 before a Coker rallied to tie the set at 20.

A kill by Alexis Berles had the Cobras up 21-20, but Catawba scored the next four points as Howard had a block and two kills after a kill from Allie Grubb (Trinity, N.C./Wheatmore).  Coker got within a point after a kill from Megan Hardy and a block from Berles.  Catawba took the match on a setting error by the Cobras.

Bragg led Coker with 10 kills.  Hardy picked up eight kills and a pair of blocks.  Bragg and Berles each served two aces with Regan Kennen collecting 17 digs.
