Women's Soccer Ends Season With Loss at CN
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. -- Carson-Newman scored a pair of goal in the final 15 minutes to claim a 2-0 win over visiting Catawba in the first round of the South Atlantic Conference Women’s Soccer Tournament. The second-seeded Lady Eagles improve to 14-3-1 and advance to the semifinals on Friday. The Catawba Indians end their season at 6-8-1.
After falling 6-0 in the regular season at Carson-Newman, Catawba held the hosts off the scoreboard until the 75th minute when Lauren Wade notched her 16th goal of the year to break the deadlock. Wade assisted on the second goal, delivering a corner kick that was directed in by Heida Ragney in the 82nd minute.
Carson-Newman held a 22-9 edge in shots, putting seven on target. Shannon Hardy (Raleigh, N.C./Leesville Road) recorded five saves for the Lady Indians. Jacqueline Burns tallied three saves in posting a shutout for C-N.
