Rogers Named SAC Women's Basketball Player of Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) -- Catawba's Terri Rogers has been named the initial 2016-17 AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week. The award covers games played the first week of the season and was announced by the league on Tuesday.
Rogers, a junior from Burlington, N.C., averaged 24.0 points per game, 12 rebounds and shot 65.5 percent from the floor in a pair of Catawba Indian wins last week. The forward produced a pair of double-doubles to help Catawba start the season 2-0.
She got her week going with 29 points, 15 rebounds, one assist and a steal. Rogers’ layup with 40 seconds remaining snapped a 70-70 tie to lead Catawba to a 74-70 comeback win over Mount Olive on Nov. 11. One day later against Barton, Rogers notched 19 points on 60 percent shooting and chipped in 10 rebounds, and one steal in a 74-69 win. Her three-point play with 21 seconds left again snapped a late tie. The honor is her first Player of the Week selection this season.
