Hegazi Swims to Fourth in 200 Free at Fall Frenzy
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Catawba continued action at the Wingate Fall Frenzy Swim Meet on Saturday at the Mecklenburg Aquatic Center. Aly Hegazi posted Catawba’s best finish of the meet as he went fourth in the 200 free in a time of 1:41.95. The men are in fifth place of seven teams with 412.5 points. A short-handed women’s team have picked up 59 points.
Hegazi’s finish was one spot better than the 200 medley relay team of Dominik Brus, Frederico Borrego Higareda, Joao Barreto and Hegazi, who were fifth with a time of 1:34.53. Higareda, Barreto and Hegazi teamed with Mario Zaninovic to go seventh in the 800 free relay (7:01.76).
Brus would finish 11th in the 100 back (52.24), while Barreto picked up a pair of 12th-place finishes. He had a time of 51.44 in the 100 fly and a time of 59.11 in the 100 breast. Michael King grabbed a win in the ‘C’ Final of the 200 free (1:47.78), placing 17th. Robert McCue was 24th in the 200 free (1:53.77). Zaninovic took 18th in the 400IM (4:14.15), while Arnold Blohme was 21st in the 100 back (56.29) and 24th in the 100 fly (55.66).
Cassie Shear claimed the best finish for the women. She swam in the ‘B’ Final of the 100 breast and took 15th with a time of 1:10.09. Jess Daniel had a pair of ‘C’ Final swims. She placed 20th in the 400IM (5:03.66) and 24th in 100 breast (1:16.44).
Susanne Reeg and Emily Najar made the ‘C’ Final of the 100 fly. Reeg was 21st in a time of 1:00.60, while Najar took 22nd with a 1:00.78.
The meet will conclude on Sunday.
