Catawba began to pull away late in the first quarter. Johnson capped an 8-0 run with three free throws and a 16-8 Lady Indian lead at the 3:32 mark. Catawba outscored the Royals 22-10 in the second quarter to build its edge to 42-22 at the break. Queens never got closer than 20 points the rest of the way with the Lady Indians leading by at least 30 over the final 13 minutes.
The Lady Indians held a big edge in turnovers, scoring 32 points off 24 Queens miscues and allowing only six off its own 14 mistakes. Catawba would hold a 19-2 edge in second-chance points, pulling down 14 offensive rebounds.
