Men's Basketball Rolls Past Brevard Behind Arrington's 24 Points
SALISBURY, N.C. -- Catawba got 24 points from KJ Arrington (Newport News, Va./Denbigh/Henry CC) in claiming an 81-46 win over visiting Brevard in South Atlantic Conference men’s basketball action on Sunday afternoon at Goodman Gym. The Catawba Indians up their record to 10-4 overall and 4-4 in the SAC. The Tornados fall to 2-13 and 0-8.
Everyone that dressed scored for Catawba, who shot 54% to just 25% for Brevard. Arrington connected on 9-of-13 shots in notching his game-high total. He had 18 at the break as the Indians posted a 43-20 lead after the opening 20 minutes.
The Indians led 18-4 by the mid-point of the first half then extended the margin to 43-20 at the break. Arrington had a dozen points over a 14-5 run that put Catawba up 35-17 late in the half. The Indians led by 20 or more the rest of the way.
Jerrin Morrison (Charlotte, N.C./E. Mecklenburg) followed Arrington with a dozen for the Indians and pulled down nine rebounds. RJ Robinson (Durham, N.C./Hillside) reached double figures for the first time in his Catawba career with 11 points.
Shelby Parris scored a dozen for Brevard and grabbed seven rebounds. JaMarquis Johnson followed with 11 points and Stevie Williams added 10.
Catawba is on the road for its next three games, starting with Wingate on Wednesday at 8 pm.
