Johnson Named AstroTurf SAC Women's Basketbll Player of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) -- Catawba guard Bri Johnson has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played Jan. 2-9. It was announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Johnson, a senior from Statesville, N.C., averaged 22 points while shooting 66 percent from the floor in a pair of victories for the Catawba Indians last week. She began the week with a 21 point effort vs. Queens, shooting 4-of-8 from behind the three-point line to lead Catawba to an 81-45 win. She continued her hot streak with 23 points vs. Brevard shooting 7-of-8 from the field and also tying a school record with 6-of-6 from behind the arc in the 90-64 win.
Her contributions helped the Indians produce the top two three-point shooting games in school history, making 14 vs. Queens and 13 against Brevard. Johnson also finished the week of with a total of four rebounds, eight assists, and four steals. This award is her first Player of the Week selection this season.
