HARROGATE, Tenn. -- Lincoln Memorial overcame a slow start and posted a 101-83 victory over visiting Catawba in South Atlantic Conference men’s basketball action on Saturday afternoon at Turner Arena.  The Railsplitters, ranked 25th, improve to 12-4 overall and 7-3 in the SAC, while the Catawba Indians fall to 10-6 and 4-6.

Chris Perry led three 20+ point scorers for LMU, delivering a double-double with 28 points and 15 rebounds.  Trevon Shaw and Luquon Choice each picked up 22 points.  Choice added nine rebounds.

Jerrin Morrison (Charlotte, N.C./E. Mecklenburg) led Catawba with 23 points.  Troy Warren (Mooresville, N.C./Lake Norman) added 13 points with KJ Arrington (Newport News, Va./Denbigh/Henry CC) collecting 11.  Warren led the Indians with seven rebounds.

Catawba got off to a quick start, scoring the first nine points.  The Indians would hold the lead until the midpoint of the half when Shaw’s jumper at the 10:36 mark put LMU up 20-18.  Choice capped an 18-6 run that gave the Railsplitters a 28-22 edge with eight minutes to go in the half.

Lincoln Memorial went on to build an 18-point bulge and took a 45-31 lead to the break.  Catawba scored the first basket of the second half to close the gap to a dozen, but LMU stretched the lead to 26 over the first 10 minutes of the final half.

The Railsplitters canned 50% from the field, hitting on 35-of-70 shots while Catawba canned 28-of-74 (38%).  LMU enjoyed a 52-36 edge on the glass.

Catawba travels to Newberry on Wednesday for an 8 pm tip before returning home next Saturday afternoon.
