Women's Lacrosse Drops Opener at Mount Olive


MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. -- Host Mount Olive improved to 4-0 with a 12-3 win over visiting Catawba in women’s lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at the Ray McDonald Complex.   It was the opener for the Catawba Indians.

The Trojans had the lone goal over the first 15 minutes as Kelly Young put Mount Olive on top just over two minutes into the game.  Catawba pulled even at the 12:28 mark with a goal from Nicole Hunt (Pleasant Garden, N.C./SW Guilford). 

Young put Mount Olive on top to stay two minutes later and the Trojans would lead 6-2 at the half.  Jackie Kaderabek and Kali Ferguson each scored twice as UMO pulled away in the second half.

Nicolette Salay (Columbus, N.J./N. Burlington Regional) and Kirstyn Kruse (Sagamore Beach, Mass./Williston Northampton Prep) had the other two goals for Catawba.  Madison Anselmo (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Comsewogue) racked up 11 saves in goal.

Young, Ferguson, Kaderabek, Michaela Ciciarelli and Saffron Snethen all had two goals for Mount Olive.  Siena Miller recorded 15 saves.

Catawba is in action at home on Thursday, hosting Roberts Wesleyan at 3 pm.
