Warren Goes For Career-High 34 Points in Win Over Brevard
BREVARD, N.C. -- Senior Troy Warren (Mooresville, N.C./Lake Norman) scored a career-high 34 points as Catawba notched a 77-60 win over host Brevard in South Atlantic Conference men’s basketball action on Saturday afternoon at Boshamer Gym. The Catawba Indians improve to 17-9 overall and 11-9 in the SAC. The Tornados fall to 2-24 and 0-20.
Warren scored 21 points in the first half as the Indians took a 33-22 lead. Catawba hit on 50%, while the Tornados struggled, canning only 27%. Brevard never closed within single digits in the second half as Catawba led by as many as 22.
Catawba shot even better in half two, hitting on 65% and finished the game at 58% to just 31% for the Trojans. The Indians held a 42-30 edge on the boards and the hot shooting help off-set 20 turnovers to just nine for Brevard.
Warren connected on 12 of his 15 shots and went 10-of-14 at the line. He completed a double-double by grabbing 10 rebounds. Jerrin Morrison (Charlotte, N.C./E. Mecklenburg) was the next highest scorer for Catawba with nine points.
Stevie Williams posted 21 points for Brevard. Levi Lamb had 14 points and six rebounds.
Catawba is at home against Wingate on Wednesday at 8 pm.
