Men's Lacrosse Upended by Queens
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Host Queens scored the first four goals and never trailed in taking a 13-6 win over Catawba in South Atlantic Conference men’s lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at the Queens Sports Complex. The Royals improve to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in the SAC, while the Catawba Indians fall to 3-3 and 0-1.
After falling down 4-0 early in the second quarter, Catawba responded with three goals over a five-minute span to get within 4-3. The Royals closed the half with the final two goals then tallied four goals in the first six minutes of the third quarter to go up 10-3.
Liam Lynch (Marietta, Ga./Pope) led Catawba with two goals. Dalton Cook (St. Augustine's, Fla./Bartram Trail) picked up a goal with an assist. Ryan Applegate (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla./Ponte Vedra) recorded 20 saves in goal for the Indians.
Garrett Sadler had two goals and two assists to pace Queens. Justin Swick and Grif Stechmiller had two goals with one assist. Queens out-shot Catawba 51-29 and won 19 of the 23 face-offs.
Catawba is back in action on Wednesday as the Indians host Bentley at 3 pm.
