MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. -- Georgia College took both games of a softball doubleheader against visiting Catawba on Wednesday afternoon at the Peeler Complex.  The Bobcats won by the scores of 3-1 and 9-8 to improve to 15-9 on the year.  The Catawba Indians fall to 6-21.

Georgia College got a complete game by Kayla Price (8-2) to win the opener then rallied twice in game two for the sweep.  The Bobcats erased a 5-1 deficit with a six-run sixth then got a winning two-out, two-run double in the seventh from Holland Coursey for a walk-off victory.

The Lady Indians built a 5-1 lead going to the bottom of the sixth of game two.  Delane Smith (Wake Forest, N.C./Wake Forest) had doubled home a run in the first and singled home two in the third as Catawba went up 4-0.

After scoring in the fifth, Georgia College got rolling in the sixth.  With two outs, five straight Bobcats reached base to put the hosts on top.  Baylee Hall tied the game with two-run single, then Amber Coy doubled home two for a 7-5 lead.

Catawba came back to regain the lead in the seventh.  Smith, Ashley Wagoner (Roaring River, N.C./E. Wilkes) and Taylor Martin (Salisbury, N.C./W. Rowan) singled to load the bases with one out.  Monica Taylor (Weaverville, N.C./N. Buncombe/UNCW) tied the game with a two-run single and Katherine Shumaker (Blanch, N.C./Bartlett Yancy) delivered a pinch-hit single to give Catawba an 8-7 lead.

After a walk and fielder’s choice started the Bobcat seventh, Danielle Bernstein singled.  A groundout moved runners to second and third before Coursey delivered the winning hit on an 0-2 count.

Smith and Kristen Stinnard (Concord, N.C./Cox Mill) both had three hits for Catawba.  Bernstein and Coursey had three hits for Georgia College.

Georgia College scored early in the opener to go up 3-0.  Rice doubled home a run in the second and the Bobcats used three third-inning errors to score twice.  Shumaker’s pinch-hit single in the fifth drove in Catawba’s run.  Grace Holland (Thomasville, N.C./Ledford) had two of the six Lady Indian hits.

Brooke Walser (Thomasville, N.C./E. Davidson) allowed just four hits in the loss, falling to 4-7.  She walked two and fanned three, but Catawba committed five errors behind her.

Catawba is at home Saturday as the Lady Indians host Southern Wesleyan in a doubleheader that starts at 1 pm.
