Women's Golf Finishes Ninth at SAC Championships
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. -- Catawba put together rounds of 322, 316 and 321 to post a ninth-place finish at the South Atlantic Conference Women’s Golf Championships. The three-day Championships concluded on Tuesday at the 5,910-yard, par-72 Link Hills Country Club.
Madison Moore (Westfield, N.C./E. Surry) led Catawba as she finished 32nd with a 237 total of the three rounds. She scored three birdies in her final round which came at the par-4 12th and 13th and the par-4 first.
Jaime Cassell (Charlotte, N.C./Cox Mill) was a shot behind Moore in the tournament. Her lone birdie of the final round came on the par-4 11th. Victoria Hedrick (Lexington, N.C./C. Davidson) had a 239 over the three rounds.
Kaley Barts (Apex, N.C./Apex) and Sarah Coltrane (Asheboro, N.C./SW Randolph) rounded out the Catawba squad and each posted a birdie on Tuesday. Barts had a two on the par-3 sixth, and Coltrane did the same on the par-3 16th.
Moore had seven birdies in the tournament for Catawba. Cassell and Barts each had four birdies with Barts adding an eagle. Hedrick totaled three birdies and Coltrane two.
Lenoir-Rhyne rallied past Tusculum, who led after the first two rounds, to win the Championship. The Bears shot a 304 on Tuesday to finish at 908, three shots better than the Pioneers.
Carson-Newman's Elizabeth England followed up her 66 with a 75 on Tuesday, but her 214 total was one shot better than Abbey Hartsell, of Lenoir-Rhyne, who had a final-round 74.
