Mobley Earns SAC Football Offensive Player of Week Honors
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) -- The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf SAC Football Players of the Week for games the second week of the season. Catawba wide out Sam Mobley was tabbed the Offensive Player of the Week, while Wingate linebacker Robbie Wallace was named the Defensive Player of the Week. Tusculum placekicker Isaac Gallegos and Newberry return man Chance Walker were named Co-Special Teams Players of the Week.
Mobley, a senior from Monroe, N.C., hauled in eight catches for 211 yards to lead the Catawba Indians to a 27-20 win over FCS and SoCon school VMI on Sept. 9. Five of his catches for 165 yards came in the second half as he helped Catawba erase a 10-0 halftime deficit. His 13-yard score in the fourth quarter put the Catawba Indians up 20-13. He finished the contest with an average of 26.4 yards per catch, while his 211 total yards were the second most receiving yards in Catawba history.
