Frost Scores Twice as Women's Soccer Top Newberry 2-1


NEWBERRY, S.C. -- Catawba got a pair of goals from Beck Frost in a 2-1 win at Newberry in South Atlantic Conference women’s soccer action on Wednesday afternoon. Catawba moved to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the SAC.  Newberry falls to 2-5 and 1-4 in the SAC.

Frost started the scoring in the 16th minute with a shot from up the middle to the left of goalie. This would be the only score in the first half.

The Lady Indians increased the lead further in the 68th minute with a score of 2-0. Frost came up the left side with a high shot.

Newberry battled to score a goal in the 90th minute with a goal from Alyssa Ortega at midfield. 

Shelby Thompson made three saves in posting the win for the Lady Indians. Jayleen Gant stopped four shots along with Korina Martinez, who had one save, in goal for Newberry.

Catawba is back in action on Saturday as the Lady Indians travel to Coker for a league match that kicks off at 4:30 pm.
