Men's Soccer Takes Win at Coker
HARTSVILLE, S.C. -- Sam Henneberg scored with 10 minutes left to snap a 1-1 tie and lift Catawba to a 2-1 win at Coker in South Atlantic Conference men’s soccer action on Saturday night at the Coker Athletic Field. The Catawba Indians get their first win of the season, moving to 1-5 overall and 1-2 in the SAC. Coker drops to 1-5 overall and 0-3 in conference.
Catawba started the scoring in the 32nd minute of the game. Philipp Hollenhorst converted a penalty kick for a 1-0 lead. Jacob Simonis countered for Coker with a goal off a cross from Cameron McDonald in the 40th minute leveling the score.
Henneberg notched the winner in the 80th minute as he scored off a deflection to put Catawba up 2-1. Indian goalkeeper Evan Jeckells had seven saves, while Coker’s Justin Walker stopped two shots.
Catawba is back in action on Saturday as the Indians host Lander with a kickoff at 7 pm.
