Volleyball Falls to Anderson
SALISBURY, N.C. - - Catawba Volleyball fell to Anderson University 0-3 on Tuesday evening in Goodman Gymnasium 19-25, 21-25 and 27-29. The Catawba Lady Indians fall to 3-7 overall and 1-5 in the South Atlantic Conference. The Trojans improved to 10-3 overall and 4-1 in the conference.
The Lady Indians attempted to put pressure on the Trojans but was unable to take the lead throughout the first two sets. Catawba hit 16% in the first set and was led by Micah Ensor’s four kills. Allie Grubb led the attack with four kills in the second set.
Catawba saw their first lead of the match in the third set as they jumped out to a 7-1 lead. Anderson fought their way back and tied the game at 24 all. Catawba called a timeout and came back out to take the next point on a kill by Jade Brooks. The last tie of the game was on a Rachel Stanford kill at 27 all. Two consecutive kills by the Trojans sealed the win for them.
Catawba hit 11.5% for the match and was led by Ensor, who finished the match with nine kills. Grubb added eight kills, five blocks, and three aces. Stanford handed out 20 assists while collecting four kills and 14 digs.
The Lady Indians are back in Goodman Gymnasium on Friday evening as they host Queens University in a South Atlantic Conference match at 7 pm.
