Catawba Snaps Four Game Winning Streak to Georgia College


SALISBURY, N.C. -- Catawba fell to Georgia College 3-1 in women’s soccer action on Saturday afternoon at the Frock Soccer Complex. The loss snaps the Lady Indians’ four-match winning streak as Catawba falls to 5-3. The Bobcats improve to 2-4.

Shelby Vasich started the scoring in the sixth minute for Catawba with a pass from Becky Frost. Catawba held an 8-3 edge in saves.

Georgia College started their scoring in the second half. Cassie Balzano was the first for the Bobcats in the 55th minute leveling the scoring.

Amanda Bartholomew shot from 18 yards out to the left side of the goal to gain the lead 2-1 for the Bobcats.

Sofia Lekas took a pass from Bartholomew in the 85th minute to stretch the Bobcats lead 3-1. Georgia College led Catawba by 17-9 shots through out the game.

Catawba is back in action on Wednesday as the Lady Indians host Queens in a conference match at 5 pm.
