Women's Soccer Falls to Queens on Penalty Kick
SALISBURY, N.C. -- Queens scored the lone goal on a first-half penalty kick to top host Catawba 1-0 in a South Atlantic Conference women’s soccer match on Wednesday afternoon at the Frock Soccer Complex. The Royals improve to 6-2-1 overall and 4-2 in the SAC, while the Catawba Indians fall to 5-4 and 3-1.
The Royals drew the penalty kick in the 31st minute and Charlotte Ring’s shot from the spot beat Catawba keeper Shelby Thompson to her right. The Lady Indians had 10 of their 13 shots for the game in the second half in an effort to equalize, but could not get the tying goal.
The Lady Indians out shot Queens 13-9 for the match with Queens keeper Rachel Quest stopping nine shots. Thompson made a pair of saves for Catawba.
Catawba will host Carson-Newman on Saturday at 5 pm in another SAC match.
