Women's Soccer Takes Win Over Mount Olive


SALISBURY, N.C. -- Catawba College took on Mount Olive in a non-conference match on Wednesday afternoon at Frock Soccer Complex. The Catawba Indians broke a 1-1 tie at the half to win 3-1 and improve to 6-5 overall. The Trojans fall to 2-10.

The Lady Indians started off the scoring with Brooke Freeman on the goal in the fourth minute from a shot 27 yards out to the top left of the goal from a pass from Erin Feldman. Kaylee Larson for the Trojans tied the score in the 15th minute after receiving a pass from Kristin Power.

Early in the second half, Jenny Lux snapped the tie with her goal in the 47th minute off another Feldman assist. Bailey Howell scored the third goal for Catawba in the 87th minute.

The Lady Indians out shot Mount Olive 22-7 for the match with Mount Olive keeper Sterling Morris stopping ten shots. Thompson made a pair of saves for Catawba.

Catawba will travel to Anderson on Saturday for a conference match at 7:30 pm
