Men's Golf in 11th After First Day of Ross Intercollegiate
MORGANTON, N.C. – Catawba was in 11th place out of 13 teams at the Donald Ross Intercollegiate Men’s Golf Tournament after Monday’s two rounds. The third and final round at the 6,718-yard, par-70 Mimosa Hills Golf and Country Club will be played on Tuesday.
Catawba totaled 611 after the first two rounds, shooting a 305 and a 306. Newberry holds a 12 shot lead on Coker after posting a 565 total. The Wolves shot an even-par 280 as a team in round two.
North Greenville’s Evan Gfeller leads by two shots heading into the final round. He had ronds of 69 and 66 for a 135 total. Newberry’s Harry Bolton is in second.
Catawba individual Mack Sheppard leads the way for the Indians. His 147 total has him in 22nd place with rounds of 73 and 74. Jesse Vensel, also as an individual, was two shots back in 30th. Tanner Bibey started strong with an even-par 70 in the opening round, but an 81 in round two put him in 37th place. Trey Burton came back after an opening 81 with a 73 to stand in 46th.
