Swim Teams Finish Third at Emory Invite
ATLANTA, Ga. – Catawba finished third on both the men’s and women’s side at the Emory Invite Swim Meet that concluded on Saturday at the Woodruff Center Pool. Host Emory won each meet with Wingate claiming second. Lenoir-Rhyne was fourth and Limestone fifth. Catawba’s women racked up 302 points, while the men totaled 258 points.
Taylor Fair grabbed the best finish for the women as she went fourth in the 400IM (4:44.83). She earlier had posted a 10th in the 100 back (1:01.850 just ahead of teammate Claire Featherstone, who was 11th in 1:01.96. Featherstone was 14th in the 200 free (2:03.44).
Marcia-Mariel Erhart posted a fifth in the 1000 free (11:17.26), followed by Regan Nolan in sixth (11:33.13). Kristina Rogge claimed eighth in the 200 breast (2:33.25) and Natalie Standard was eighth in the 100 fly (1:00.89) and was 16th in the 50 free (26.23) just behind Lea Hartwig, who was 15th (26.21). Jess Daniel claimed 10th in the 100 fly (1:01.23).
Both women’s relays, the 200 medley (1:53.51) and 400 free (3:47.54) were seventh. Featherstone, Rogge, Daniel and Standard went in the 200 medley, while Standard, Hartwig, Oryan Malul and Featherstone teamed in the 400 free.
Federico Borrego Higareda added another fourth-place finish at the meet with his time of 2:07.33 in the 200 breast. Gatlin Saylors claimed fifth in the 100 back (53.17), while Joao Barreto took sixth in the 100 fly (52.37) and seventh in the 50 free (22.03).
Michael King touched seventh in the 400 IM (4:21.64) and eighth in the 1000 free (10:19.12). Lucas Rhodes went 10th in the 1000 free (10:26.31) and 15th in the 200 free (1:49.05). Barreto, Higareda, Saylors and Rhodes led the 400 free relay (3:11.48) to a fourth-place finish and the 200 medley to a fifth (1:36.61).
Catawba is back in the pool at the Yellow Jacket Invite in Richmond, Va., from December 1-3.
